As Election Day approaches tomorrow, it’s a good time to reflect on the role each of us plays in shaping the communities we call home.
The decisions made by elected officials influence much more than what happens in government. They help shape the environment in which businesses operate, our workforce develops, and our communities grow. From infrastructure and workforce training to public services and business investment, these decisions have a lasting impact on the economic future of the Chippewa Valley.
This year’s ballot includes races for governor, the state Legislature, and Congress, along with three statewide referendum questions that would amend the Wisconsin Constitution. Voting is one way to take an active role in shaping the future of our communities.
## Economic Development Starts With Community
Economic development doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes collaboration among businesses, local governments, community organizations, and residents to create an environment where businesses can grow and people want to put down roots.
The strength of a local economy is closely tied to the strength of its community. Decisions made at the local and state levels help shape the infrastructure businesses depend on, the workforce development efforts that prepare people for new opportunities, and the quality of life that makes communities attractive places to live, work, and do business.
A strong economic future requires more than investment and business growth. It also takes engaged residents, thoughtful leadership, and people who care about the direction their communities are heading.
At CEDC, we believe building a stronger Chippewa Valley is a shared effort. Everyone has a role in shaping the future of the places we call home, and civic participation is one way to be part of that process.
