Chippewa Historical Center Continues Progressing

The Chippewa Valley has a long history of business, entrepreneurial and community prosperity over its history. 2020- The Year to Shop Small in the Chippewa Valley

If there were ever a year to shop small for Christmas, 2020 is it. This year has been unprecedented, chaotic, and frightening for Americans in a lot of ways. But since March, the year's upheavals have had a severe impact on small businesses, especially those in the Chippewa Valley. CCEDC would like to reminder everyone to shop small this year! Now more than ever our local businesses in the Chippewa Valley need us this season. As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations increase across Wisconsin, leading us to crack down again on business and social gatherings, there's a chance that small businesses could face another huge hit, both before and during the Christmas season. The holidays might look a little different this year; however, we can still share joy by shopping small and supporting our [...]

Shop Main Street WI

Good news for all our small businesses in the Chippewa Valley and Wisconsin that offer ecommerce and shipping options – the MainStreetWI.com online retail portal is expanding statewide. The portal, launched in June for participants in WEDC’s Main Street and Connect Communities programs, will be expanded! This campaign will include additional media and social media tools and resources which will be released on November 16th, but in advance of this launch, WEDC is hoping to identify additional businesses that should be added to the site to allow Wisconsinites to shop local when they are shopping online this holiday season. Surveys show that more than 70% of consumers plan to do at least some online shopping this year, and WEDC would like to make it easier to identify and purchase goods online from local [...]

October is Manufacturing Month

Across the country, state governors and officials are making it known that Manufacturing Month is well underway, even in the face of changes to the celebrations because of COVID-19. The manufacturing industry is a vital part of Wisconsin's economy, employing more than 475,000 Wisconsinites, accounting for 19 percent of gross domestic products, and contributing over $63 billion to Wisconsin's economy. Due to retirements and economic expansion, there will be significant opportunities for employment in Wisconsin’s manufacturing industry, underscoring the need to ensure a robust talent pipeline now and in the years to come. Manufacturing Month helps to promote manufacturing as a viable career in Wisconsin, build awareness of the contributions of manufacturing businesses, and help future generations to explore career opportunities in manufacturing. Throughout the month, manufacturers will be opening their doors to communities [...]

Action Downtown Stanley Strategies & Actions

West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission is continuing their Downtown Subplan work with the City of Stanley. The City of Stanley Plan Commission is exploring ways to improve and revitalize downtown Stanley, as it is vital to the community and the local economy. During this time, they are using a survey to help engage the public and gather feedback.  The first survey, IMAGINE Downtown Stanley, was a huge success with 412 responses.  The data from this survey, which was a community assessment that collected ideas on likes and dislikes about downtown, was used to prepare the Action Downtown Stanley survey, which focuses on strategies and implementation measures to help revitalized and address the concerns that folks have about downtown.
