Economic Development has always been a competitive race. There are thousands of communities that compete for talent, jobs, capital investment, and growth. To be competitive, a community must have an exceptional leader and great team working together. This is something that Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) is able to state as Mr. Paul Salm has served as a past chairperson and Board of Director for the last 20 years. CCEDC would not have been able to continue this fight for economic development within the Chippewa Valley without the collaboration and support of Mr. Salm.

Mr. Salm, VP-Business Banking of BMO Harris Financial Group, has exhibited a lengthy record of supporting economic development and has worked tirelessly to improve the business climate as a dedicated leader within Chippewa County. Mr. Salm has devoted the last 30 years as a business/agricultural banking expert and assisting customers with custom designing the appropriate deposit and lending solutions to maintain, expand, and maximize their business in the Chippewa Valley. Mr. Salm’s enthusiasm for supporting local businesses, a diligent advocate for economic development growth and community culture has shaped his career and improved Chippewa Falls in the utmost way.

For this reason, CCEDC nominated Mr. Salm to be recognized by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the largest association for professional economic developers in the world for this year’s Excellence Awards. Mr. Salm will be accepting the 2020 Citizen Leadership Award alongside nineteen other leaders in the field for achieving excellence in their communities nationwide.

Mr. Salm is an ultimate collaborator. Since taking the helm of CCEDC he has shown leadership and the ability to partner with other organizations. Whether helping organize and seed Wisconsin’s largest and most successful Regional Revolving Loan Fund organization- RBF, Inc.- to assisting CVIC incubation center, working hand in hand with Chippewa County to establish the Lake Wissota Business Park- Mr. Salm is always there to help. Nominees for these individual awards were selected through a months long process and from a pool of many highly qualified nominees. CCEDC would like to congratulate Mr. Salm and thank him for his continued dedication as a CCEDC board member and helping the Chippewa Valley progress and flourish.

Please join CCEDC as we honor Mr. Salm during IEDC’s 2020 Virtual Annual Conference this October 13-16th.
