Community Donors Helping the Community Foundation

This BEAR program focused on how to best equip identified emerging leaders with the characteristics, ideas, knowledge, relationships, and values of economic development leadership. In turn, this answer was discovered by working with the Community Foundation of Chippewa County by establishing a fund called the “McDowell Economic Development Seedling Fund” where each year a portion of the proceeds from CCEDC’s Annual Chippewa Charity Classic Golf Tournament go to finance the mission of taking emerging leaders in the area and developing their understanding of the importance [...]

This campaign will include additional media and social media tools and resources which will be released on November 16th, but in advance of this launch, WEDC is hoping to identify additional businesses that should be added to the site to allow Wisconsinites to shop local when they are shopping online this holiday season. Surveys show that more than 70% of consumers plan to do at least some online shopping this year, and WEDC would like to make it easier to identify and purchase goods online from local [...]

LaGrander's Hillside Dairy, Inc. started small, but today they run around a million pounds of milk per day. Growing up directly above his family’s cheese factory in Stanley, Wisconsin, Master Cheesemaker Ryan LaGrander learned early on that the cheese life is harder than it looks. “It all started because my grandpa made the decision to be a cheesemaker and buy a plant – he was gonna do it for himself,” Ryan says. “It’s pretty amazing that they took it from where it was to where we are now.” Ryan adds, “there were times when people didn’t show up to work and my dad would come wake us up,” Ryan remembers. “You have to wax cheese all morning when you’re 12 years old.” Their family legacy comes through in their spectacular cheeses, including fresh curds [...]
