SBA To Provide Small Businesses Impacted by Coronavirus (COVID-19) Up to $2 Million in Disaster Assistance Loans

WASHINGTON – SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza issued the following statement today in response to the President’s address to the nation: “The President took bold, decisive action to make our 30 million small businesses more resilient to Coronavirus-related economic disruptions. Small businesses are vital economic engines in every community and state, and they have helped make our economy the strongest in the world. Our Agency will work directly with state Governors to provide targeted, low-interest disaster recovery loans to small businesses that have been severely impacted by the situation. “Wisconsin’s Hemp Rebirth” Lunch & Learn Series

On March 4th 2020, Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation was proud to host another successful Lunch and Learn event at our sponsor, B&B Electric's, facility. The event discussion was led by Justin Kirking (Business and Cooperative Programs Specialist, USDA Rural Development). Justin spoke to attendees about "Wisconsin's Hemp Rebirth" and was focused on addressing the current challenges and future opportunities that exist through Rural Development Programs in order to assist in financing the processing and other value projects that could potentially be eligible under the Rural Development's financial programs and post-harvest eligible projects as well. Sarah Gordee (Director of Sales, Hookd Promotions) led another outstanding BEAR Lunch and Learn where over 20 Chippewa County business leaders gathered at Hangar 54 within the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to discuss emerging strategies utilized in attracting new employees.  The session also explored trends and statistics around the role that internet video use has on talent attraction and those potential employees searching for new opportunities. CCEDC and CESA 10 host Central Region Business & Industry Luncheon

While Wisconsin continues to experience substantial growth in the manufacturing, construction, healthcare, engineering and many others industries the pace of change continues to accelerate as we prepare tomorrow's workers for their future jobs, some which do not even exist yet. Many middle schools, high schools and post-secondary institutions are quickly adapting their programs and curriculum to best prepare our students for these new advancements and environments that are developing right here in Wisconsin.
