Organic Valley’s Melissa Hughes appointed to head WEDC

Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) would like to congratulate Governor Evers on his pick of Melissa Hughes who will replace and take over for former WEDC Secretary Mark Hogan. Hogan, who was appointed in 2015 by former Gov. Scott Walker, officially resigned Tuesday. Hughes will begin on October 1st and will become the first woman to lead the organization.Melissa Hughes, who has spent the last 15-plus years as general counsel with Organic Valley/CROPP cooperative. Hughes joined La Farge-based Organic Valley in 2003 as chief mission office and general counsel. Vincent Tool Expansion

Today Vincent Tool announced that they will be expanding their operations in the Village of Lake Hallie by celebrating a ground-breaking for their new addition. The Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation utilizes three ways to three ways of facilitating the creation of jobs and capital investment within the Chippewa Valley. First, working to help in the creation of new firms (entrepreneurial development like our HATCH and Pitching events). Second, attraction of external firms to our area (business recruitment like the Fleet Farm Distribution Center) is used by CCEDC. Last but not least- we use a strategy of working to improve the growth/expansion of our existing firms (Business Expansion and Retention or our BEAR Program). Up to 80% of net new jobs and capital investment in the Chippewa Valley is generated by existing firms, and these existing firms provide even more return on investment in smaller, rural market areas like Chippewa’s. 2nd Annual Career Exploring Event

Chippewa Falls, WI (US) August 13, 2019 – 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the National Exploring Program and celebrates decades of opportunities for young adults to become prepared for life. Career Exploring is a unique career exploration program for young men and women grades 6-12. The program provides students with an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of career fields and network with professionals already working in those fields.
