CCEDC & Yellowstone Cheese hosted Senator Tammy Baldwin today to discuss her initiatives of the Dairy Business Innovation Act to help Chippewa Valley farmers. The event was attended by Economic Development Corporations, press entities, farmers, several local businesses, and the University of Wisconsin Extension to bring specific concerns to light and get feedback on how the Diary Business Innovation Initiatives help to address these real-time challenges. CCEDC is proud to promote the Red Letter Grant - hurry! Application deadline is Oct 14th! for risk takers, movers + shakers | ELIGIBILITY | Open to women throughout nine counties in Western Wisconsin who want to start a NEW business. We will consider applications from existing women-owned businesses looking to expand, but preference is given to applicants in the start-up phase. Eligible counties include: Buffalo, Clark, Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pepin, Pierce, Saint Croix and Trempealeau. | HOW MUCH | Four $2,000 grants will be awarded in the spring and the fall ($16,000 annually). In addition, each grant recipient will receive a $250 print credit from Ambient Inks and promotion in Volume One - both generously donated by both businesses. Chippewa County spends more on drug-related health care than any other County in Wisconsin. The number of meth related cases in Chippewa County has more than tripled over the past four years. In 2014 there were 82 meth cases in the county, 12 of which involved relocating children. In 2018, that number more than tripled. As the number of meth cases in the County rises, leaders are seeing the impacts on not only local government but the families and community as a whole. This shocking rise has promoted Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) and other prominent leaders in the community to come together and take a stand against meth during this crisis situation. On September 19th, 2019 Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) held its monthly Board of Director's (BOD) meeting at the new Hoeft Builders location in Altoona, WI. The board discussed topics that included planning for HATCH 2019, Business at the Gardens, Manufacturing Month, CareerTek and the strategic planning efforts that this year's BOD's will be gearing towards. CCEDC would like to thank Hoeft Builder's for their hospitality in their beautiful new building!
On September 17th, 2019 Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) participated in the Tech Council Innovation Network luncheon at the University of Eau Claire, WI. Jonathon Horne, managing director of Idea Fund of La Crosse, a seed stage venture capital fund established in 2016 to invest in pre-revenue and early stage revenue startup companies gave a presentation on what his fund looks for when investing in startups. Rosalyn Zirngible, Marketing Specialist and Project Manager of CCEDC, provided the group with an overview of CCEDC's programs which are aimed at improving our entrepreneurial ecosystem such as our upcoming HATCH slated for October 17, 2019 at Cowboy Jack's Saloon.

Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) would like to congratulate Governor Evers on his pick of Melissa Hughes who will replace and take over for former WEDC Secretary Mark Hogan. Hogan, who was appointed in 2015 by former Gov. Scott Walker, officially resigned Tuesday. Hughes will begin on October 1st and will become the first woman to lead the organization.Melissa Hughes, who has spent the last 15-plus years as general counsel with Organic Valley/CROPP cooperative. Hughes joined La Farge-based Organic Valley in 2003 as chief mission office and general counsel.
