Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) was proud to collaborate with Chippewa Falls High School on the 6th Annual S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) open house this past week.  S.T.E.A.M aims to spark an interest and lifelong love of the arts and sciences in students from an early age. Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math are similar disciplines in that they all involve creative processes and none uses just one method for inquiry and investigation. Teaching relevant, in-demand skills that will prepare students to become innovators in an ever-evolving world is paramount, not only for the future of the students themselves but for the future of the Chippewa Valley. “Wisconsin’s Hemp Rebirth” Lunch & Learn Series

On March 4th 2020, Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation was proud to host another successful Lunch and Learn event at our sponsor, B&B Electric's, facility. The event discussion was led by Justin Kirking (Business and Cooperative Programs Specialist, USDA Rural Development). Justin spoke to attendees about "Wisconsin's Hemp Rebirth" and was focused on addressing the current challenges and future opportunities that exist through Rural Development Programs in order to assist in financing the processing and other value projects that could potentially be eligible under the Rural Development's financial programs and post-harvest eligible projects as well. UW-Stout (MOC) partners with CCEDC & Drylock Technologies to kick-off Lean Certificate Series + SME Bronze

Recently, CCEDC was asked by our economic partner UW-Stout Manufacturing Outreach Center (hereafter MOC), to help promote their Lean Certification Training Program. In today’s workplace CCEDC understands that Lean Certifications can open up many employee opportunities, position the employee for possible promotions, help the employee better understand a production process within a business, and improve organizational operations by eliminating non-value-added steps (wastes) in processes. Drylock Technologies in Eau Claire, Wisconsin continued on their Lean journey by participating with the MOC by hosting this high impact Lean Certification Training Series. Over fifteen employees from Drylock Technologies and other advanced manufacturers from and around Chippewa County are participating in the class. 26th Annual Chippewa Valley Rally

Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) had the opportunity to join in this year's 26th Annual Chippewa Valley Rally in Madison, Wisconsin. This annual event is organized by the Chippewa Valley Chamber Alliance, representing the Chippewa Falls, Menomonie and Eau Claire Chambers of Commerce. This unique opportunity brings the collective voices of Chippewa Valley businesses and community leaders to the capital all at one time to recognize and strengthen our region's mutually-beneficial relationship with state government, which includes topics on transportation, workforce development, economic development, education and other critical areas. With workforce at the top of the agenda, CCEDC was there to help emphasize issues on workforce challenges, as this shortage continues to be the number one challenge for many local businesses in Chippewa County and throughout Wisconsin. Sarah Gordee (Director of Sales, Hookd Promotions) led another outstanding BEAR Lunch and Learn where over 20 Chippewa County business leaders gathered at Hangar 54 within the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to discuss emerging strategies utilized in attracting new employees.  The session also explored trends and statistics around the role that internet video use has on talent attraction and those potential employees searching for new opportunities. Through its Legislative Committee, CCEDC takes a proactive approach to working with the members of the Wisconsin State Legislature, state government agencies, and local legislative bodies whose actions and decisions impact our state and local business climate. CCEDC and CESA 10 host Central Region Business & Industry Luncheon

While Wisconsin continues to experience substantial growth in the manufacturing, construction, healthcare, engineering and many others industries the pace of change continues to accelerate as we prepare tomorrow's workers for their future jobs, some which do not even exist yet. The Review Said What?!? Strategies for Confronting Negative Online Reviews

2020 is starting out great for the BEAR Business Expansion and Retention Lunch & Learn Programs! CCEDC knows that the strong "engines" of our local economy are our existing businesses. Helping them stay in "know" learn strategies to help them grow is what our BEAR Program is all about. CCEDC organized the most recent BEAR lunch & learn was to assist local businesses on how to deal with less-than flattering feedback from online reviews.
