At CEDC, fostering a culture of connection is at the heart of our Business Expansion, Attraction, and Retention (BEAR) program. We believe that strong business relationships drive sustainable growth, which is why we launched the Collaborative Showcase program—a unique initiative designed to bring together industry leaders, partners, and advocates for open dialogue and shared learning.
What Is the Collaborative Showcase?
The Collaborative Showcase is a two-hour gathering hosted at a CEDC stakeholder’s facility. These events provide a platform for local businesses and community leaders to connect, learn from one another, and explore new opportunities for collaboration. By meeting face-to-face, participants can build genuine relationships that help strengthen the economic fabric of our region.
A Special Gathering at Spectrum Industries
Our most recent Collaborative Showcase was graciously hosted by Spectrum Industries in Chippewa Falls. We extend our sincere thanks to Spectrum for opening their doors and to all the CEDC supporters, industry partners, and business advocates who joined us for this important event.
Spectrum Industries stands as a hallmark of innovation and craftsmanship in Chippewa Falls. With 375,000 square feet of production space, their headquarters and manufacturing facilities have produced thousands of high-quality, forward-thinking products for customers across North America—and beyond. Spectrum employs approximately 200 people in Chippewa County, with an additional 15 team members at other U.S. locations.
During the showcase, Scott Dorn, Executive Vice President of Spectrum Industries, welcomed attendees and offered insights into the company’s history, mission, and future direction. The Spectrum team highlighted their expertise in customized manufacturing—working with wood, wood composites, and steel to design, build, and ship products with exceptional care and precision.
Fostering Dialogue on Regional Challenges and Opportunities
The Collaborative Showcase isn’t just about networking—it’s about tackling the real issues facing our region. This event provided a platform to discuss some of the most pressing topics in industrial development, including:
-
Access to childcare
-
Internship and career pathway programs
-
The evolving demands on our healthcare systems
Participants acknowledged that every community faces unique hurdles, and progress requires a shared effort. By bringing together diverse voices, these showcases inspire practical conversations and collaborative problem-solving.
Charlie Walker, President/CEO of CEDC, summed it up best:
“Events like this allow us to build real relationships, understand local assets, and connect the right people to the right opportunities. They’re not just about economic development—they’re about creating momentum and working together to make big things happen in the Chippewa Valley.”
Roundtable Discussions and Facility Tour
The roundtable discussion delved into shared challenges, such as building a skilled workforce, expanding childcare access, and addressing healthcare needs. Attendees also explored solutions like internships and cooperative healthcare models. Before touring Spectrum’s impressive facility, the group discussed supply chain dynamics and received an update on CN Rail’s intermodal activity.
Looking Ahead
As with our previous showcases, the event at Spectrum Industries underscored the power of face-to-face connection and strategic collaboration. These gatherings are catalysts for progress, helping to strengthen our local economy and build a more resilient community.
A heartfelt thank-you to Spectrum Industries for hosting, and to everyone who participated in driving this vital conversation forward. Together, we’re shaping a stronger future for the Chippewa Valley.
