So Many Reasons to Celebrate!

There are all kinds of reasons to celebrate Economic Development Week (May 9-13), but one of the most important is to celebrate, recognize, and thank the many staff, volunteers, and economic development organizations that work diligently to build wealth in our communities. Their daily actions create more economically vibrant and livable places, as well as encourage teamwork among organizations and businesses. In the Chippewa Valley, our local governments have officially proclaimed Economic Development Week. CEDC utilizes the week to not only pat ourselves on the back but to congratulate our partners, collaborators, and colleagues for all the hard work they do. It is always productive to take a moment to reflect on the accomplishments and gather together to network and lift each other up so the mission of economic development can continue. On Thursday, [...]

BEAR, or Business Expansion and Retention, is the CEDC’s flagship economic development program and makes up about eighty percent of our efforts as an organization. Shop Main Street WI

Good news for all our small businesses in the Chippewa Valley and Wisconsin that offer ecommerce and shipping options – the MainStreetWI.com online retail portal is expanding statewide. The portal, launched in June for participants in WEDC’s Main Street and Connect Communities programs, will be expanded! This campaign will include additional media and social media tools and resources which will be released on November 16th, but in advance of this launch, WEDC is hoping to identify additional businesses that should be added to the site to allow Wisconsinites to shop local when they are shopping online this holiday season. Surveys show that more than 70% of consumers plan to do at least some online shopping this year, and WEDC would like to make it easier to identify and purchase goods online from local [...]

Paycheck Protection Program and WEDC’s We’re All In

CCEDC would like to share valuable information on two new developments that have been shared with our organization regarding the Paycheck Protection Program and WEDC's We're All In Grant Program. Changes to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) were signed into law.  The changes add flexibility to use the funds.  Changes to the PPP include: Small businesses can use the funding for up to 24 weeks, instead of the original eight weeks Instead of requiring 75% of the funds to be used for payroll costs, that amount is dropped to 60% Initially employees needed to be rehired by June 30, that is now extended to December 31 If the loan is not forgiven entirely, businesses have up to five years to pay it back, instead of just two years Repayments are deferred until the [...]
