Chippewa Economic Development Corporation has a primary role of being a Chippewa voice that promotes and supports the interests of economic development at the local, state, and national level. This includes the responsibility for advocating with elected officials, other state policymakers, key community leaders, and regional business organizations. USDA awards CEDC $50,000 Grant for Bio Development Opportunities

The Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) recently received a $50,000 Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG) from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This grant aims to explore developing more rural biobased economic opportunities within Chippewa County. For over 20 years CEDC has supported fuels produced from renewable organic material. Early in 2001 CEDC assisted local Chippewa Valley investors with the idea of building an ethanol plant in eastern Chippewa County. CEDC knew that a bio-based business would benefit local farmers by increasing the value of the corn they grew. Construction on the original 15-million-gallon ethanol plant in Stanley began in 2001. Stanley Receives WEDC Certification-Shovel Ready

The Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) announced that the Stanley West Industrial Park has been certified through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) as a Certified Shovel Ready Site through their state program. CEDC President Presents at Best Practices Conference

Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) President and CEO Charlie Walker presented at the 2023 Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) Best Practices Conference in Wausau, Wisconsin on September 27th-29th 2023. CEDC Investor Mosaic Technologies Wins National Smart Rural Community Award

Recently, the NTCA Rural Broadband Association, who represents 850+ independent telecommunications companies met for their annual Fall Conference. At the conference, the organization presented their Smart Rural Community Showcase Awards. These awards recognize outstanding rural broadband providers. WEDC Secretary and CEO Missy Hughes Visits Chippewa County Businesses

WEDC Secretary and CEO Missy Hughes Along with CEDC President CEO Charlie Walker visits a Chippewa Falls business KYMA Battery Technologies for a retention and expansion update while also celebrating Healthcare Workforce Training Institute grand opening. The Dove Healthcare Community Foundation received a Capacity Building grant from the WEDC. The grant assists the Institute in providing virtual and hybrid training programs for students who would otherwise be unable to access their services. The Cobban Bridge Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Marks the Grand Opening of the New Modern Bridge!

The Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) understands that for any community to grow they need modern infrastructure- great roads, rail, and fiber. Recently CEDC worked with the Chippewa County Highway Department to organize and celebrate the completion of a modern bridge across the Chippewa River. Governor Tony Evers presided over the momentous event held on July 25th, 2023. The new Cobban Bridge opened just 6 years after the closure of its predecessor three months ahead of schedule. At a cost of 4.6 million dollars, it was designed to cater to the diverse transportation needs of rural Chippewa County. Built in 1908, the former two-span Pennsylvania through-truss bridge was the oldest of its kind in Wisconsin.
