Jim McDougall from UpStream AV has recently been named a finalist among twenty-eight other entries representing sectors as broad as health technologies and innovations in products or services who are all competing in the 17th Annual Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest. UpStream launched in 2019 as a start-up technology business engaging in AV’s most pressing problems with next generation technology. VENTUREHOME-EAU CLAIRE ANNOUNCES FIRST COHORT

Exciting news is something we all need during these uncertain times and that is what VentureHome-Eau Claire, a new startup hub, announced this spring. This startup hub combines statewide resources with community initiatives to provide local entrepreneurs access to a full menu of startup resources in their community. They also serve as a landing spot for Wisconsin’s entrepreneurial “alumni” to “venture home” and contribute to their local communities. During this unprecedented time in our community the Red Letter Grant has developed a series of free, virtual workshops to support small businesses in the Chippewa Valley over the next few weeks. Urgent Call for Manufacturers of Medical Equipment from Wisconsin

In fabric shops and on factory floors, the race is on to make and manufacture personal protective equipment (PPE) in the United States, including Wisconsin before supplies run out for those on the front lines of the coronavirus outbreak. Medical staff wear face shields over face masks while treating patients to protect against flying respiratory droplets that can transmit COVID-19, such as from coughs and sneezes but now more than ever protective equipment of all kinds has become hard to find. Healthcare workers have shared that face shields are especially critical because staff now wear them routinely during the race against the war of COVID-19. STEAM Leaders in the Chippewa Valley

Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) was proud to collaborate with Chippewa Falls High School on the 6th Annual S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) open house this past week.  S.T.E.A.M aims to spark an interest and lifelong love of the arts and sciences in students from an early age. Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math are similar disciplines in that they all involve creative processes and none uses just one method for inquiry and investigation. Teaching relevant, in-demand skills that will prepare students to become innovators in an ever-evolving world is paramount, not only for the future of the students themselves but for the future of the Chippewa Valley. CCEDC and CESA 10 host Central Region Business & Industry Luncheon

While Wisconsin continues to experience substantial growth in the manufacturing, construction, healthcare, engineering and many others industries the pace of change continues to accelerate as we prepare tomorrow's workers for their future jobs, some which do not even exist yet.
