CEDC’s First Entrepreneur Showcase of 2025

We sincerely thank all of our CEDC investors who attended our first entrepreneur showcase in 2025; its success was truly remarkable. Special thanks to KYMA and their team for hosting us at their facility, allowing community leaders to discover the innovative manufacturing they bring to our community. We are fortunate to have them here. The morning started with Momentum West and the Chippewa Valley's Economic Development professionals gathering to collaborate and update each other on everyone's projects and activities that raise and improve Western Wisconsin's economy. Following the roundtable discussion, over forty community leaders enjoyed a complimentary taco bar lunch, after which they attended a KYMA company presentation by Frederik van Heerden. Van Heerden presented a high-level overview of the energy landscape to the CEDC stakeholders and business leaders, covering its historical context [...]

Closures Spark Collaboration

The past couple of weeks, the Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) has been at the forefront of a concerted effort, collaborating with local Chambers, Economic Development Corporations, and government entities to find a viable solution to the imminent closure of HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital, HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital, and all associated Prevea Clinics. This collective endeavor underscores the commitment of the community to ensure continued access to vital healthcare services for its residents. The closure of healthcare facilities poses a significant challenge to the community, affecting not only the well-being of individuals but also the local economy. The dedicated teams at CEDC, alongside their partners, have been diligently working together to explore innovative strategies that can mitigate the impact of these closures and ensure the provision of uninterrupted healthcare services. Workers Need to Get Back into the Game

It was just last week that the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) teamed up with Workforce Resources and over 35 local companies throughout the Chippewa Valley to host an outdoor job fair. A major feedback  that CCEDC received from  companies that participated in the event was that they are still having difficulty finding workers-especially those who are eager to return to work. This lack of worker participation in the job market is now turning into a crisis which threatens the viability of hundreds of local businesses in the region. Many hiring companies believe that this shortage of workers is enhanced by current continued state & federal pandemic-related unemployment benefits being offered in Wisconsin. Typically, the state of Wisconsin requires persons seeking unemployment benefits to look for and complete (4) four unique work [...]

Community Donors Helping the Community Foundation

Several years ago, members of the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) Board of Directors business, expansion, and retention (BEAR) program decided to visit with local companies who were committed to gaining feedback and discuss concerns on where the next generation of economic development leaders would emerge from. This BEAR program focused on how to best equip identified emerging leaders with the characteristics, ideas, knowledge, relationships, and values of economic development leadership. In turn, this answer was discovered by working with the Community Foundation of Chippewa County by establishing a fund called the “McDowell Economic Development Seedling Fund” where each year a portion of the proceeds from CCEDC’s Annual Chippewa Charity Classic Golf Tournament go to finance the mission of taking emerging leaders in the area and developing their understanding of the importance [...]
