Over the past year, we have been continuously reminded that economic momentum doesn’t come from policies or plans alone but from our stakeholders and communities. Chippewa County’s strength wasn’t built from the top down but from the inside out. This understanding has guided the Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) as we worked to shape a stronger future, always keeping the community at the center of everything we do.
Each May, during Economic Development Week, CEDC gathers for its Annual Meeting to celebrate the vital role the organization continues to play in creating strong, thriving communities. This gathering is one of Chippewa Valley’s most significant business networking/connecting events that serve as a moment to reflect on the past twelve months of local progress, connection, and shared success. The economic development organization highlights its focus on strengthening the Chippewa Valley throughout the year, utilizing its strategic partnerships and targeted programs. By advocating for critical investments and supporting local entrepreneurs through initiatives like HATCH, Big Ideas, and the Collaborative Entrepreneur Showcase, CEDC continues to open new doors for innovation and opportunity. Hands-on workshops and training programs, including BEAR Workshops, have all helped to grow and empower our community’s workforce.
This economic development celebration is anticipated to have over 350 attendees, who will journey to the Eau Claire Event District on May 16th at 7:30 a.m. Sylvie Nelson, the 2025 CEDC Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker. President and CEO of Adirondack Executive Services and SDN Innovation, Sylvie Nelson is a nationally recognized leader in workforce development, turning bold ideas into real change for communities.

Of course, CEDC does more than host business networking events. The organization remains the first point of contact for Business Attraction and Site Selection in Chippewa County. Over the last year, CEDC played a pivotal role in supporting nine projects that considered Chippewa a potential site for expansion. They provided valuable insights into local incentives, regulations, workforce availability, proximity to suppliers, and community sentiment—key elements influencing decisions and fostering long-term investment. The site selection process remains a critical core factor in bringing in new businesses, supporting expansion of existing ones, creating jobs, and stimulating overall community economic activity.
