CEDC Board Pushes for More Healthcare Services

To stay abreast of the ever-changing healthcare environment in Chippewa County, the CEDC Board of Directors recently had the opportunity to tour the Aspirus Health facility in Stanley, WI. The purpose of this tour was to follow up on the due diligence meetings that CEDC has had in the past year with healthcare providers looking to expand their services in Chippewa Falls after the HSHS closing just over a year ago. During the visit, the Board of Directors gained valuable insight into the operations and services provided by Aspirus Health. Which will serve as a model for the new hospital Aspirus will build in Chippewa Falls. Empowering Rural Chippewa: CEDC’s Role in BEAD Engagement

Broadband expansion is a transformative force for rural communities in Wisconsin, and the Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) is dedicated to supporting this important initiative. CEDC several years back formed a Chippewa broadband expansion committee whose aim is to improve internet access for rural areas in Chippewa County. As of January 2025, approximately 10% of Wisconsin is still unserved, and 18% is underserved in terms of broadband access. This marks significant improvement compared to previous years but still leaves many rural residents, especially those in Eastern Chippewa County without adequate internet connectivity. The Wisconsin Public Service Commission has deployed to date over $345 million since 2019 to improve or build new access to broadband. CEDC helped play a crucial role in supporting broadband expansion and the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) programs [...]

From Fear to Confidence: CEDC’s Collaborative Entrepreneur Showcase Inspires Success

Entrepreneurship is often seen as a path to freedom, innovation, and financial success. Yet, for many aspiring Chippewa entrepreneurs, the fear of failure can be a crippling barrier. This fear, while natural, can prevent brilliant ideas from coming to life and innovative solutions from being developed. The Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) understands that overcoming this fear is essential for entrepreneurs looking to carve their path in the business world. “What keeps many would-be entrepreneurs from succeeding—or even trying to succeed—is fear of failure,” says Charlie Walker, president and CEO of the Chippewa Economic Development Corporation. “Helping entrepreneurs overcome that fear is one of the goals of the Chippewa EDC, which for decades has been laser-focused on cultivating the investment of talent and capital in Chippewa County.” This goal is closer than ever, [...]
