FBLA is an organization that was first developed in the 1930s focusing on preparing students to become leaders with hopes of unleashing the power of entrepreneurship and business knowledge. FBLA focuses on academic competition and leadership development. Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) President and CEO Charlie Walker presented at the 2023 Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) Best Practices Conference in Wausau, Wisconsin on September 27th-29th 2023. Festival Foods Purchases 7.4 Acres in Chippewa Falls

Wangard Partners, Inc. (Wangard), a Milwaukee-based full-service real estate development firm, announced today the sale of a 7.4 acre site in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, to Festival Foods (Festival). Dr. Lona Cook, Chair of the Chippewa Economic Development Corporation's (CEDC's) Advocacy Committee, noted that “the CEDC has been busy this past quarter working with our local legislators to support the use of Environmental Remediation Tax Increment Districts (ERTIDs), support more broadband funding, reduce healthcare costs, continue funding workforce apprenticeship and customized training grants, and take steps to solve the Chippewa Valley’s workforce housing crisis.” Recently, Charlie Walker, President and CEO of the CEDC, went to Madison to voice the organization’s support for establishing a state income tax income program for workforce housing. We've all been through a lot this year: the pandemic, supply chain issues, and talent shortages, just to name a few. What is awesome is that the Chippewa Valley has continued to prosper because of the hard work ethic of our citizens, our businesses' ability to innovate, our abundance of entrepreneurship, and those individuals who support the mission of the CEDC. We close out this year being reminded of how fortunate we are in the Chippewa Valley. This month, the Governor announced that UW-Eau Claire and CVTC were winners in the Innovation Grant Program. Governor Evers Stresses Importance of Wisconsin Infrastructure While Fixing Potholes

Governor Evers spent the afternoon in Chippewa Falls, WI with a shovel in his hand while discussing the importance of Wisconsin’s infrastructure alongside Department of Transportation Secretary Craig Thompson. The duo is touring the state while fixing potholes to promote the governor’s proposed roads budget for 2021-2023. Evers and Thompson also made stops in Wausau and Appleton.
