2021’s first regional free open air job fair will take place, weather permitting, between 3 to 5 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport parking lot. There will be over 30 companies there. In the event of weather cancellation, information will be provided at www.chippewa-wi.com and on the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation Facebook page. The Open Air Job Fair is organized in partnership with a variety of community organizations to celebrate National Economic Week 2021. The Chippewa Falls Economic Development Corporation [CCEDC], Workforce Resource, Inc., Chippewa Falls Chamber, Department of Workforce Development, Momentum West and the West Central WI Workforce Development Board have partnered to assist workers in landing a job with employers. While the pandemic has been difficult on the industrial field, the CCEDC is excited to be bringing the local workforce and businesses together at this hiring event.

Jon Menz, CEO of the West Central WI Workforce Development Board [WDB], emphasizes that “at a time when face-to-face interviews are limited by COVID-19, the region’s ‘talent experts’ are collaborating with local businesses to connect them safely to the workforce. The parking lot of the Chippewa Valley Airport is the perfect location to have this event because of its centrality in the Chippewa Valley, along with access to public transportation and an abundance of open space and free parking. We are excited to partner with businesses, the community and economic development corporations on this effort.”

As the Chippewa Valley economy rapidly positions for a full reopening, many local businesses in all industrial sectors are looking for employees. At the Chippewa Valley Airport parking lot, over two dozen companies will be set up with safety precautions to welcome on-site interviews for a variety of positions.

“May 13th falls within National Economic Development Week, a week that recognizes the importance of job creation and retention. Many of CCEDC’s business partners are looking forward to returning to full employment operations, and this is an excellent opportunity for them to meet and interview with high-quality talent. It’s good to see workers getting vaccinated and moving towards returning to work, so CCEDC encourages anyone needing a job to utilize this opportunity,” expressed CCEDC’s CEO Charlie Walker.
