In the picturesque region of Chippewa, nestled among the snow-draped Blue Hills and the ever-flowing Chippewa River, the Christmas season is a time of warmth, laughter, and togetherness. It’s the perfect season to reflect on our accomplishments, our failures, and our experiences. Yet, in many other communities, the past few years have brought worry into the hearts of their townsfolk. Their local economies have slowed, businesses have shuttered, and many families faced a difficult Christmas without jobs. Unlike Chippewa, these communities lacked an organization like CEDC to unite behind.

The Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC)—renowned for its community-focused initiatives—continued to partner with their towns to revitalize the Chippewa Valley. Fueled by a can-do attitude, abundant collaboration, community involvement, and adaptive, ground-breaking ideas, CEDC helped Chippewa County, Wisconsin become a dynamic and prosperous area always in perpetual renewal.

2024: The Start of Something Special

In 2024, Chippewa County emerged as a leader in Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest, boasting a diverse, innovative, and sustainable economy. Thanks to the efforts of CEDC, the region attracted a cutting-edge EV business (KYMA), supported eight entrepreneurs in launching their ventures, expanded the award-winning HATCH program, provided expertise to existing businesses through various BEAR Lunch and Learns, and advocated for legislative issues to keep the region competitive. Another notable initiative began this past summer when CEDC organized a BEAR Listening Session to gather input from residents about their hopes and challenges. Many expressed the need for stable jobs, opportunities for young people, and support for struggling small businesses. This feedback inspired a plan that included recruiting healthcare businesses to the area, offering workshops for entrepreneurs, and advocating for incentives for local manufacturing.

A Christmas to Remember

On Christmas Eve, as the church bells rang out over the valley, the CEDC President stood before the glowing Christmas tree in the town square. “This year,” he said, his voice thick with emotion, “we’ve seen what happens when a community comes together. Through partnerships, hard work, and a shared vision, Chippewa’s light is bright!” As snowflakes fell softly from the sky, the townsfolk joined hands and sang a chorus of carols. For the first time in years, their voices rang out not just with melody, but with hope, joy, and gratitude. Thanks to the efforts of CEDC, Chippewa Valley is no longer an area merely surviving—it is thriving. This Christmas, we celebrate not just the season but the boundless possibilities of what a united community can achieve. And so, in the spirit of giving and growth, Chippewa is a shining example of how investing in people and opportunities can bring lasting cheer.
