The Cobban Bridge Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Marks the Grand Opening of the New Modern Bridge!

The Chippewa Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) understands that for any community to grow they need modern infrastructure- great roads, rail, and fiber. Recently CEDC worked with the Chippewa County Highway Department to organize and celebrate the completion of a modern bridge across the Chippewa River. Governor Tony Evers presided over the momentous event held on July 25th, 2023. The new Cobban Bridge opened just 6 years after the closure of its predecessor three months ahead of schedule. At a cost of 4.6 million dollars, it was designed to cater to the diverse transportation needs of rural Chippewa County. Built in 1908, the former two-span Pennsylvania through-truss bridge was the oldest of its kind in Wisconsin. Governor Approves Expansion for Stanley

The City of Stanley is on Santa’s nice list as Governor Tony Evers announced the State Building Commission approved a $16.5 million health building addition at the Stanley Correctional Institution. With funding finally approved after 3 years in the making, construction is expected to be completed in May of 2025. This addition is proof that the initial investment of the prison is paying off and will continue to be a state asset. This was a major CEDC legislative priority where the Advocacy Committee continued to push for its development. The Committee would like to thank Governor Evers and our legislative delegation for investing in the City of Stanley and its largest employer.

Governor Evers Stresses Importance of Wisconsin Infrastructure While Fixing Potholes

Governor Evers spent the afternoon in Chippewa Falls, WI with a shovel in his hand while discussing the importance of Wisconsin’s infrastructure alongside Department of Transportation Secretary Craig Thompson. The duo is touring the state while fixing potholes to promote the governor’s proposed roads budget for 2021-2023. Evers and Thompson also made stops in Wausau and Appleton.
