There are more than just Christmas lights to brighten up downtown Chippewa Falls following the December 7 lighting ceremony at the Xcel Energy Hydro plant when the vintage NSP sign was turned on after 20 years of being unlit.

Prior to the lighting ceremony the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) board members and staff were invited to participate in a tour of the location which was built in 1928.  Chippewa County is known as the hydro power county in Wisconsin and is home to two of the six hydro plants which are located on the Chippewa River and Lake Wissota.
