The fifth week of the Chippewa County Manufacturing Boot Camp was hosted by the Chippewa Valley Technical College’s Gateway Campus, which is the home of the Manufacturing Education and Applied Technology Centers. There students worked to complete their Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) Maintenance Awareness Certificate.
The Maintenance Awareness Certificate helps students recognize potential maintenance issues with basic production systems, including knowledge of when to inform maintenance personnel about problems with: electrical systems, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, machine automation systems, lubrication processes, bearings and couplings, and belts and chain drives. Students also enjoyed working in the lab where they were able to complete hands on simulations throughout the certification.
Additionally, students had the opportunity to tour Allied Dies Inc., which is located in Chippewa Falls. Allied Dies is dedicated to designing and building the most technically advanced dies and related tooling for the cast film, coating, laminating, and sheet industries. The company also repairs and modifies existing Dies to meet today’s product demands.
