DESCRIPTION:CCEDC is proud to promote the Red Letter Grant – hurry! Application deadline is Oct 14th! \nfor risk takers\, movers + shakers \n| ELIGIBILITY | Open to women throughout nine counties in Western Wisconsin who want to start a NEW business. We will consider applications from existing women-owned businesses looking to expand\, but preference is given to applicants in the start-up phase. \nEligible counties include: Buffalo\, Clark\, Chippewa\, Dunn\, Eau Claire\, Pepin\, Pierce\, Saint Croix and Trempealeau. \n| HOW MUCH | Four $2\,000 grants will be awarded in the spring and the fall ($16\,000 annually). In addition\, each grant recipient will receive a $250 print credit from Ambient Inks and promotion in Volume One – both generously donated by both businesses. As of fall 2019 – two awardees will be offered a three-month office space + membership at Eau Claire co-working space CoLab. \n| Fall 2019 Timeline | \nApplication period – July 17th – October 14th (due 10.14.19 before 11pm) \nJudge review + interviews – October 28th – November 1st. \nRed Letter Grant awards – November 6th – applicants please hold this date on your calendar. \nApply Today!

SUMMARY:Industrial Hemp Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Chippewa County Division of Extension UW-Madison office will be hosting an industrial hemp field meeting on August 20 at the Chippewa County Field Plots from 12:30pm to 3:00pm. The field meeting will focus on industrial hemp agronomic and production practices related to producing industrial hemp for seed and fiber. Replicated research plots include seeding rates\, nitrogen rate applications\, and variety trials. A discussion of production for CBD oil is also planned. \nSpeakers at the event include Haleigh Ortmeier-Clarke UW-Madison Department of Agronomy Research Assistant; Division of Extension UW-Madison agents\, Carl Duley\, Buffalo County; Jerry Clark\, Chippewa County\, and Alissa Maier\, Buffalo/Chippewa County Summer Intern. \nThere is no cost to attend the event. 2.5 Certified Crop Advisor continuing education credits will be available. \nThe field is located east of the intersection of County HWY I and Seymour Cray Boulevard with the entrance to the field on Beach Drive.
