2022 CEDC Business of the Year Awards Categories

Business of the Year

Nominations will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Businesses must be located in Chippewa County.
  • Impact on the community in terms of creation of new, quality job opportunities.
  • Recent or current expansion of an existing facility, the construction of a new facility, or substantial investment in capital equipment.
  • Commitment of the continued education and training of their workforce.
  • Support or involvement in a broad range of community economic development activities.
  • Innovations in the development of new technologies and products.
  • Investors to the Chippewa County EDC will receive additional consideration.
  • One Business of the Year award will be honored from each Chippewa County quadrant (map is below).
  • From all the Chippewa County business of the year recipients, there will be one 2020 Chippewa County Economic Development Overall Business of the Year award winner selected.

How winners are selected

The CEDC Business Awards Committee will evaluate the nominations based on the information provided on the nomination forms and the knowledge of the committee. The committee will be made up of the four CEDC quadrant representatives, the CEDC annual meeting committee members, as well as staff members of the CEDC.
The 2022 Chippewa County Business of the Year awards will be presented to the winners at the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Meeting in August of 2022.

Construction Industry Partner
Nominations will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Business/Projects must be located in, or have significant impact/presence in Chippewa County.
  • Impact on the community in terms of creation of new, quality job opportunities.
  • The recipient must be an individual, organization, or business that can be presented to the public as a model partner in the construction industry who builds or delivers a quality product.
  • High involvement in the community and a positive reputation in the community as a partner in the construction industry.
  • Investors to the Chippewa County EDC will receive additional consideration.

Nomination Form

Entrepreneur of the Year

Nominations will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Creation of business within the last three years and located in Chippewa County.
  • Impact on the community in terms of creation of new, quality job opportunities.
  • Successful investment in capital equipment and establishment of a facility supporting future business growth.
  • Commitment to the education and training to enhance business initiatives.
  • Involvement in a broad range of community economic development activities.
  • Organization of innovative technologies and products to expand current operations.
  • Investors to the Chippewa County EDC will receive additional consideration.

Economic Development Partnership
This award recognizes a community institution (university, community college, hospital, local foundation or other community institution) that have made significant contributions to the community in support of economic development through their leadership, financial support, local investments, hiring, training or related activities. Nominees should demonstrate a sustained effort in the promotion and support of local economic development program.

Economic Development Leadership
Nominations will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • A significant interest in advocacy for economic development in the Chippewa County.
  • Execution of projects that have significant impact on revitalizing the Chippewa County community.
  • Demonstrate consistent and exemplary performance in economic development.
  • Illustrate recent examples of active leadership roles and accomplishments in economic development.
  • Playing a major role in shaping and improving the practice of economic development in Chippewa County.
  • Extraordinary development efforts directly related to the purpose of the Chippewa County EDC.
  • Investors to the Chippewa County EDC will receive additional consideration.

Exporter of the Year
Nominations will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • An increased number/percentage of jobs due to international activities. 
  • Innovations in global marketing
  • Effective use of international distributors
  • Long-range international strategies and prospects for furture growth and commitment to the Chippewa Valley
